Troy Men Face South Alabama on Thursday

TROY ? Following a three-game home stand and almost five days of rest, the Troy Trojans men's basketball team travels to Mobile, Ala. on Thursday for a showdown with Sun Belt opponent South Alabama at 7:05 pm at the Mitchell Center.
Troy dropped a heart-breaker to Louisiana Lafayette on Saturday, but has to bounce back against the Jaguars on Thursday. Troy has defeated USA just one in eight meetings, trailing the in-state foe 1-7 all-time.
The Jaguars feature a pair of All-SBC performers in guard Domonic Tilford and forward Brandon Davis. Tilford was selected to the preseason second team, but is getting the attention of the entire conference thus far with his scoring prowess.
The senior is leading the Sun Belt in scoring at 19.4 ppg and leads his team in assists with 48. He is also first in the SBC for three-pointers made (45) and second in three-point percentage (.464). The rest of Jaguar squad has hit just 45 three-point baskets.
Davis was selected to the first team by the league's coaches prior to the season and is living up to the hype. He is scoring 14.2 ppg and rebounding at a 7.5 per game clip. The senior is second in the league in field goal percentage (.631) and third in free throw percentage (.845).
The Trojans (7-10, 2-3 SBC) are not without some standout performers of their own. Richard Delk posted his first career double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds against UL on Saturday. He is leading the team with 13.6 ppg and is second on the glass with 5.0 rpg.
Delk isn't shouldering the scoring load alone as Brandon Hazzard (13.0 ppg) and Michael Vogler (11.6 ppg in SBC play) are both averaging career-highs this season. Vogler also leads the Sun Belt in assists (89) and center Tom Jervis is fifth in the league in blocks (30).
Jervis recently entered the top six in blocks for Troy since the school's move to Division I in 1994. He currently stands at sixth with 68 for his career, just four behind former standout Jarvis Acker (72).
Don Maestri is in his 27th season at the helm of the Trojans and he holds a 443-323 record during that time.
