Trojans Outlast ASU, 1-0

TROY - The Troy Trojans picked up a 21st minute goal, then held on for dear life for a 1-0 victory over Arkansas State in SBC Soccer action.

The Red Wolves outshot the Trojans 10-5 in the second half, but Troy (6-3-2) was able to hang on.

"Give credit to Arkansas State. They came out in the second half and gave it to us. I'm not sure if we are playing our best soccer, but we showed that when you put forth effort you can win. Our effort was much better today than Friday. Because of that we were able to step up and get a win," head coach Chris Bentley said.

At the 20:46 mark of the first half Jill Pinder took control of the ball inside the box and found Nicole Targa on her left from the perfect angle for Troy's only score of the game that was eventually the game-winner.

Ashley Branham recorded her fourth clean sheet of the year with seven saves against Arkansas State.

Troy will be in action next on Friday when they travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn. to face Middle Tennessee State.
