Trojans? 2008 Debut Pushed Up to Friday

The Trojan team will be anchored by three key seniors: Jenny Smith, Kate Heilich and Evelyn Keith, but several newcomers have stepped up and shown they are ready to contribute.
“Everyone has done well, but the first names that come to mind are Jill Pinder, Mary Morris, Rudi Rodriguez, Ashley Branham and Sarah Sanders,” Bentley said.
“All of them have responded well to coaching and I am interested to see how they do in competition.”
“It really comes down to seeing the team apply everything to a game situation and then learn from it. Our student athletes are excited and ready to get the season going,” he said.
The match starts at 4:30 pm at the Troy Soccer Complex. Admission to all home soccer matches is free.
Notes: The is the first game at Troy for new head coach Chris Bentley, its also his first career game as a head coach ... Troy is 4-4 all-time in season openers at home and 5-5 all-time in season openers ... This is the first ever meeting on the soccer pitch between Troy and NAIA university Faulkner ... The Trojans have never played on August 22 ... Troy senior Jenny Smith will make her 51st career start, the most on the team.
