Trojans Go Through Kicking Game Situations

The Troy University football completed a 90 minute scrimmage on Saturday morning that focused almost exclusively on kicking game situations.
The team ran through kickoffs ? both regular and onside ? kickoff returns, punting and punt returns as well as PAT and field goals with both the first and second units for all of those squads.
All three of Troy's kickers ? punter Will Goggans and kickers Sam Glusman and Michael Taylor ? appeared to have productive scrimmages. There was not a single missed field goal in the entire practice and most of the kickoffs were going inside the five yard line.
The scrimmage also included limited work for the second and third team offensive and defensive units, mostly to set the stage for kicking situations that involved the first units.
Sunday will be an off day for the Trojans with the exception of participating in the annual Fan Day at Trojan Arena. The football team will be joined by members of the soccer, volleyball and cross country teams, as well as the Trojan cheerleaders, to sign autographs and pose for photos beginning at 1:30.
The event is free and open to the public.
McKelvin Makes a Splash
The Buffalo Bills drafted former Trojan Leodis McKelvin with the 11th overall pick in the April NFL Draft in part because of his outstanding reputation as a kick return specialist. He put those skills on display in the Bills' most recent exhibition game on Thursday night.
The game, against Pittsburgh, was played in Toronto, and McKelvin sealed a Buffalo victory late with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Even though the game wasn't televised locally, you can see video of McKelvin's return here.
With almost one month left in the NFL training camps, all of the former Trojans who went to camp this year are still working to earn roster spots. Roster cuts will be coming in the next week, but hopefully all of the former Troy players will survive through those cuts.
