Troy Falls to ULM 8-5

“Jared Jennings pitched a great game for them,” coach Bobby Pierce said. “the story of the game is that they hit two home runs with guys on base and we hit two but one was a solo shot. I am very proud of our team in the way that they played this weekend. We did everything right but we just came up short today.”
Michael Precise got the Trojans (30-22, 16-11) on the board in the top of the second inning with his 11th home run of the season with a line drive over the wall in right field to give
Troy got the run back in the top pf the fourth inning when Bryan Miller singled to center field and advanced to third on a single to center from Precise. Catcher Beau Brooks singled through the right side scoring Miller and Giving the Trojans the lead at 2-1.
The Warhawks took their first lea din the bottom of the sixth inning with a grand slam. Dexter Fornenot reached on a one-out single. A.J. Siggers singled to left and Ryan McMillan reached after taking a pitch off of his back. Nick Wade hit an opposite field home run off of Travis Burge to take their first lead of the day at 5-2.
Siggers struck in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run home run after Kyle Surie and Fontenot reached to run the score to 8-2.
Miller got three of the runs back with a three run homer off of the fear pole in the top of the eighth inning. Daryl Otwll was hit by a pitch and Steven Felix singled and both touched the plate on the home run for the 8-5
Jeff Green (2-5) took the loss on the hill for the Trojans as he went five and a third innings and allowed four runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out four in the contest.
Travis Burge followed Green and had little success. He tossed one inning and gave up four runs on four hits.
Josh Storm finished the game and struck out four.

“It is going to feel good to be back at home this upcoming weekend,” Pierce said. “It will be a big weekend for us because we are facing a good team and we still have a lot to play for.”
Troy returns home Tuesday night as they face UAB in a non-conference contest. First pitch is slated for 6 pm.
