Trojans Get Revenge Against Jax State

“This was a complete game on our part tonight,” coach Bobby Pierce said. “Our pitchers did a good job tonight and we hit the ball well. We didn't run good on the bases but I am not going be mad at guys being aggressive.”
“Brett had a good game tonight and I am proud of how he has approached his plate appearances. I wanted him to be more aggressive at the plate and it showed with the home run.”
Junior catcher, Beau Brooks led of the eighth inning with a single. Bryan Miller followed with a single up the middle the knocked the pitcher to the ground as it went speeding past his head. Both runners touched the plate on Brett Henry's second career home run. Brock Kelley followed by taking a pitch off of his left hip. He scored on a RBI single to right field from freshman Adam Bryant to take the 10-3 lead.
The Trojans (25-17) stormed out of the gate with three run in the top of the first inning. Adam Bryant led off with a single through the left side. Bryant was thrown out trying to take second on an errant throw by the pitcher. Steven Felix followed that with a single through the right side.
The Gamecocks got a run in the sixth and the seventh inning to close the gap to 10-3.
“We spread the hits around tonight and almost everybody hit,” Pierce said. “I am pleased that we won and we needed this as we hit the road.”
Senior Rob Brown (2-2) got the start on the hill for the Trojans and went three complete innings. He gave up one run on three hits while walking one and striking out one.
Junior Travis Burge tossed two innings and faced six batters. He struck out two as he
faced the minimum.
Senior Jeff Green tossed one inning and gave up one run on two hits. He walked one and struck out two.
Jordan Mathers hurled two thirds of an inning and gave up one run on a hit. Freshman A.J. Howard threw the next inning and a third and gave up only one hit.
