Rudolph Named Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS - Troy University senior Juzil Rudolph became the fourth Trojan to win Sun Belt Conference honors this season in track and field, announced by the conference office Wednesday morning.
Rudolph earned the award with a NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 6.04 meters (19'9 3/4") in the long jump. The jump set a new school record and also is the third longest jump in the Sun Belt Conference to date. The senior took only three jumps on the day and passed into the finals, finishing sixth overall in the event.
She becomes the seventh different athlete to qualify for the regionals, joining Tawanna Meadows (100m, 200m), Tiphanie Baker (discus), Lamar Hicks (100m, 200m), Leander McKenzie (110m hurdles), O'Darien Bassett (long jump) and Norman Austin (javelin) with one meet left before the conference meet on May 9.
Rudolph's day was not complete after the long jump, as she recorded a distance of 10.00 meters in the shot put and competed in the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash to finish her day of competiton.
She joins Meadows (three awards), Austin and Bassett as recipients of the Athlete of the Week Award handed out by the conference office this season. The Trojans are back in action this weekend in the Coach O Invitational at the Jesse H. Colley Track on the campus of Troy University.
