Trojans Look to "Whup Jax State"

TROY, Ala.- The Troy Trojans will return home as they open a five-game home stand tonight when they play host to old rival, Jacksonville State.

“This is a good rivalry between us and Jax State,” head coach Bobby Pierce said. “This series goes back a long time and it is very important to the Troy family and alumni.”

The Trojans have had very little success this year in mid-week games. Their mid-week record now stands at 4-6 with four of the losses coming to in-state schools.

This will be the 124^th meeting between the two schools with Troy holding the 76-47 advantage and the 40-21 advantage in Troy.

Troy will send Mike Powers (1-0, 5.09 ERA) to the hill in search of his second win of the year.

The Trojans are led at the plate by catcher Beau Brooks who is batting .336 with 26 RBI. Freshman Adam Bryant is batting .308 with 16 RBI with senior Bryan Miller who is at .316 with 16 doubles.
