Norman Austin Earns Sun Belt Honor

TROY, Ala. - Troy University junior Norman Austin earned his first, and the team's first on the male side, Sun Belt Conference Athlete of the Week award this week for his performance at the FSU Relays.

Austin finished second in the javelin in his first meet of the outdoor season, throwing a distance of 61.06 meters (200'4"). He finished just six inches short of the winning the event and narrowly missed qualfying for the NCAA Regionals by just 0.54 meters.

The distance is the second-best distance in the Sun Belt Conference this season, and Austin will try and quailfy for the regionals this week at the Auburn Tiger Classic on Saturday.
