FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Troy University women's track & field athletes, Tawanna Meadows and Agata Cichoszewska, competed in the Last Chance Meet at the University of Arkansas Friday afternoon.
The duo attempted to qualify for the NCAA Indoors to be held on the same track next weekend, with performances in this meet.
Meadows finished second in the 60-meters running a time of 7.55 seconds, while she finished seventh in the 200-meters running a time of 24.64 - both times short of an automatic and/or provisional NCAA mark.
Meadows, a two-time Sun Belt Conference gold medalists this past week, has all ready run three provisional times in the 60-meter dash. She is currently ranked 17th nationally in the 60-meters.
Meanwhile, Cichoszewska attempted jump a provisional mark in the triple jump, coming up just short in the Sun Belt Championships last weekend. She failed to record a distance at the meet this weekend, ending her run to make the NCAA Indoors.
"Many people don't know about Agata's condition," Director of Track & Field Jill Lancaster
said. "She stepped in a hole and injured her foot just a day before we
left. We all ready purchased the ticket and she wanted to compete. We will be looking all day Saturday at meets that
were run this week to see if Tawanna stays where she is to make the NCAA
Indoors next weekend."
