Trojans Fall to Sun Devils, 15-9

“This was a frustrating loss for us tonight,” coach Bobby Pierce said. “We jumped out on them early and gave them a big second inning. That was ok because we had the lead but the seven-run inning killed us.”
The Trojans wasted very little time chasing starter Jason Franzblau. Bart Pettus led off the game on four pitches with a walk. Bryan Miller singled through the left side and Beau Brooks singled up the middle scoring Pettus. Michael Precise also singled up the middle picking up an RBI. Daryl Otwell, for the second straight at bat drew base by taking a pitch off his body. Charley Williams followed by reaching base on an error by shortstop Michael Champagnie. The Sun Devils responded by plating four runs in the bottom of the second inning closing the Trojans lead to 6-4.
ASU added a seven spot in the fifth and would score four more runs in the sixth and seventh inning.
Ryan Ellison (0-1) took the loss on the hill for the Trojans. Ellison went four innings and allowed 11 runs on 10 hits. He walked four batters and fanned four. Drew hull tossed the next two innings giving up four hits on four runs.
