Troy Closes Out Regular Season At MTSU

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Troy University Trojans will close out their regular season on the road against Middle Tennessee Saturday afternoon. Tip is set for 3 p.m. at The Murphy Center.
Troy (12-16, 5-12 Sun Belt) is riding a two-game winning streak, defeating both Florida International and Florida Atlantic at home last week, into Murfreesboro to face Middle Tennessee (18-10, 13-4 Sun Belt), who can wrap a first-round bye with a victory.
The Trojans are locked into the 11th seed for the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Tournament, and are awaiting results from Saturday's contest to see who their opening round opponent will be and where. There are three possibilities as the weekend nears as to who the Trojans will face in the first round: Louisiana-Monroe (currently 10-7) with a loss and a South Alabama victory; South Alabama (currently 9-8) with a victory and a ULM loss; or Florida International (currently 8-9) with a victory over South Alabama Saturday afternoon.
Troy is led by senior guard Amy Lewis in scoring at 16 points per game, while junior guard/forward Kylie Morrissy is averaging 13.1 points per game. Meanwhile, Middle Tennessee is led by potentional SBC Player of the Year Amber Holt.

THE LAST TIME, MTSU vs. TROY
* Middle Tennessee State University and Troy University last met January 17 of this season, with the Blue Raiders claiming an 87-53 victory at Trojan Arena. Ironically, the game against MTSU came after road games at Florida International and Florida Atlantic. The Trojans shot just 34 (18-of-53) percent from the floor and 33.3 (5-of-15) percent from behind the arc. Meanwhile, Middle Tennessee shot 53 (31-of-58) percent from the floor and 57 (12-21) percent from behind the arc. Alyce Shearing led the Trojans with nine points and five rebounds off the bench. Meanwhile, Amber Holt paced Middle Tennessee with 30 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Two other players scored in double figures for MTSU.
THE SERIES vs. MIDDLE TENNESSEE
* Middle Tennessee State University and Troy University have met six times, with the Blue Raiders holding a 6-0 advantage; including winning this year's meeting and holding a 3-0 advantage at the Murphy Center.
POTENTIONAL SBC OPPONENTS
* The University of South Alabama is seeded sixth with a one-game lead over Florida International University and the University of North Texas. The Lady Jags are at Florida International on Saturday, and with a win can wrap up the sixth seed which would mean a trip to Mobile for the Trojans.
* Florida International Unievrsity is currently seeded seventh, a game back of South Alabama and tied with North Texas. However, they have the tiebreaker over North Texas since they beat the Mean Green earlier this season.
* The University of Louisiana-Monroe would the Trojans opponent if the Warhawks lose and South Alabama wins against FIU.
