Troy Looks For Season Sweep Of Mean Green

The Troy Trojans will try to bounce back after suffering their worst loss of the season on Wednesday night at Western Kentucky when they face North Texas Saturday evening at The Super Pit in Denton.
Game time is set for 7 p.m.
The 35-point loss to Western Kentucky was the worst for any Troy team since a 47-point loss at Southwest Missouri in 2004. The loss also gave the Trojans their first four-game losing streak since the 2005-06 season. The last time Troy lost five straight games was in December of 2004, a streak that included the loss to SW Missouri.
“I think, early in the game, we had a chance to keep the
game close," Trojans coach Don Maestri said. "We missed a significant number of three point attempts, and
we were playing a very good basketball team. You can't afford to let
them get a lead like that, especially when we were playing with a lot
less confidence coming into the game.”
The game Saturday is the second of the season between Troy and North Texas. The Trojans took the first meeting 91-88 in overtime back in early January, with O'Darien Bassett pouring in a game-high 30 points in that game. Since that win, the Trojans have won just three times in 12 games while North Texas has gone 6-5. North Texas is coming off a 62-48 win over Denver, avenging an earlier loss to the Pioneers.
“Obviously, they are coming off a big win over Denver, which was a revenge game for them because of an earlier loss," Maestri said. "This will probably be the same kind of game for them because we beat them earlier this year. We have to be ready for them to play with a lot of emotion and we have to match their intensity. We are going to have to play at our best.”
Following the North Texas game, the Trojans will take a week off before hosting Florida International on Saturday, February 23.
