Trojans Look to 'Rebound' Against UNO
2/1/2008 6:00:00 AM | Basketball (W)
NEW ORLEANS - The Troy University women's basketball team will look to rebound against the University of New Orleans here Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans are coming off a heart-breaking 51-49 loss to Louisiana-Monroe when the Warhawks hit the game-winning shot with just 1.6 seconds remaining on the clock. The biggest key in the game was the fact that the Trojans allowed Louisiana-Monroe to grab 40 total rebounds. Of those rebounds, the Warhawks grabbed 16 offensive rebounds.
“You can't give up 16 offensive rebounds to anybody and expect to win the game,” Troy head coach Michael Murphy said after the game Thursday night. “That was the problem tonight. We prepared our kids over the last two days and told them how athletic this team was, and how good they rebound the ball from the guard position. We just simply did not do a very good job of blocking out, and taking care of the basketball late in the game.”
Troy holds a 3-1 advantage in the series against New Orleans, including winning last season's game in Troy, 69-53.
The game will tip-off at 12 noon (CST) from the Human Performance Center and can heard locally on WTBF-94.7 FM with Buddy Johnson and Jerry Miller.
