EDINBURG, Texas - While most students are still at home celebrating the Christmas break from school, the student-athletes on the Troy University women's basketball team will play their fifth game since school has been out of session Sunday night against Montana State University. The game, originally scheduled as the first game of the tournament, will now take place at 7 pm at the UTPA Fieldhouse as part of the Battle of the Border Classic.
Troy (3-7) returns to action just seven days after facing Western Kentucky University, and will be facing a Montana State team for the first time in school history. They will then play the winner or loser of the Texas-Pan American/Albany contest on Monday night.
The game on Sunday will be the fourth consecutive road game for the Trojans, who open a three-game homestand on January 3. The Trojans are led by senior Kylie Morrissy and sophomore Donette McNair as the duo are the top two scorers and rebounders through the first 10 games of the season. Junior Alyce Shearing recorded her first career double-double against WKU last week with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Trojans will return home on Tuesday following the tournament action.
