TROY, Ala. - The Troy University women's basketball team looks to rebound from two losses at the Doubletree Classic in Chattnooga over the weekend, by hosting Kennesaw State University at Trojan Arena Wednesday night. The game is set to tip at 7 pm, and tickets are available by calling 1-877-878-WINS.
Troy (2-3) will play at home for the second time this season, after defeating Jacksonville State 59-56 a week ago, and will look to rebound from two disappointing losses over the week at the tournament hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattnooga.
The Trojans dropped a heart-breaking 52-48 decision to eventual tournament champion and undefeated Richmond, before coming back from a 20-point deficit in the second half to fall short against Akron on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans are led by sophomore Donette McNair, who ranks 37th in the nation in rebounding, grabbing 10 rebounds per game. She also ranks in the Top 15 in scoring in the conference and is tied for second in the conference in rebounding average. The sophomore from New London, Connecticut has started the last four games for the Trojans, the first four starts of her career, and she has recorded four consecutive double-doubles along the way.
Senior Kylie Morrissy is the only other Trojan in double figures, averaging 12.2 points and five rebounds per game in 33 minutes of action per game.
This will be just the second meeting all-time between Troy and Kennesaw State, with the Trojans winning last season on a last-second shot by Morrissy to claim a 58-57 victory on the road.
Tonight's game will be the last for 10 days for Troy, as they prepare for final examinations for the semester. They will return to the court December 13 at Trojan Arena against Spring Hill College, before hitting the road to face George Washington on December 16 in preparation for conference play.
