Trojans Host Jacksonville State Tuesday

TROY, Ala. - The Troy Trojans open the home portion of the 2008-09 schedule when they host in-state rival Jacksonville State University at Trojan Arena Tuesday night. The contest is scheduled to tip at 5:15 pm, and can be heard on WTBF-94.7 FM with Buddy Johnson providing the play-by-play. SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS
The Gamecocks are in the midst of a four-game road trip that started with a 69-56 loss to Alabama A&M Sunday afternoon. Jacksonville State is led by Charlease Williams, averaging 15 points per game; while Jolie Efezokhae is averaging 14 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for the Gamecocks through three games.
QUICK NOTE ABOUT THE TROJANS
The Trojans rebounded against Austin Peay on the road, winning 65-61 to record their first victory of the season. Troy (1-1) posted four players in double figures in the contest. The Trojans will return home for the first home game of the season, one of only three in the first two months of the season.

ALL-TIME VERSUS JACKSONVILLE STATE: Tonight's meeting between Troy and Jacksonville State will be the 58th meeting all-time between the two schools. Troy leads the all-time series 37-20, but fell to Jacksonville State last season in Jacksonville. The Trojans are 21-6 at Trojan Arena, including winning the last six at home.
MURPHY ALL-TIME AGAINST JACKSONVILLE STATE: Head coach Michael Murphy is 3-2 against Jacksonville State during his tenure at Troy University. The Trojans are 2-0 at home against the Gamecocks under Murphy.
ALL-TIME VERSUS OVC: For the second consecutive game, the Trojans will play a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. Troy is 61-42 all-time against the Ohio Valley Conference, with the majority of the victories coming against in-state rival Jacksonville State University. The Trojans have played Austin Peay (2-2), Eastern Illinois (2-2), Eastern Kentucky (0-1), Jacksonville State (37-20), Morehead State (1-0), Murray State (2-0), Samford (9-7), Southeast Missouri State (2-0) and UT-Martin (6-10).
TROJANS ALL-TIME ON NOVEMBER 25: Troy is 0-2 all-time on November 25. The Trojans first-ever contest on this date came against William Carey, dropping an 65-61 decision on a neutral floor in the 1983-84 season. Troy did not play again on this date until the 2003-04 season, in which they fell to Samford University on the road 51-41 (Murphy's second season at the helm of the Trojans).
BENCH SCORING LAST TIME OUT: After scoring just seven points in a loss to Georgia Tech on November 14, the bench responded against Austin Peay November 21. Four players saw action off the bench and played a total of 65 minutes, scoring 21 points. Freshmen Kirsten Smith scored a career-high 12 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor, while playing a career-high 29 minutes. Sophomore Lucy Lindley played a season-high 22 minutes off the bench, scoring four points in the low post.
CAREER NIGHT FOR MCNAIR: Redshirt sophomore Donette McNair made the first of her first career start against Austin Peay last Friday night. She played 25 total minutes, connecting on 4-of-8 shots from the floor and 2-of-5 shots from the free throw line. More importantly, she posted the Trojans first double-double of the season and the first of her career with 10 points and 10 rebounds (seven defensive rebounds).
FIRST FOUL OUT: Junior Alyce Shearing became the first Trojan this season to foul out of a contest, fouling out against Austin Peay on November 21.
NEW YEAR, DIFFERENT STARTING LINEUP, FOUR AUSSIES: Head coach Michael Murphy started an entirely new lineup against Georgia Tech in the season opener last Friday night. The Trojans return three starters from a season ago in Brittnie Davis, Larelle Roper and Kylie Morrissy. Senior Danielle Realph and junior Alyce Shearing won the final two spots in the lineup, meaning for the third consecutive season, four Australians were in the starting lineup for Troy.
MISSING IN ACTION: All but three Trojans have played in games this season. Freshmen Aarika Howard and Tanae Kemp have not stepped on the floor this season due to injuries, while senior Staci Mitchell has not seen action in the first two games.
