Trojan Men Sixth, Women Eighth At Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Troy men's cross country team finished sixth overall in the Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships, while the women finished eighth to finish out the regular season of running for both teams.
The men finished sixth overall with 159 points, just six points short of fifth place South Alabama with 153 points.
Jeremy Moujoodi paced the Trojans with a 17th place, recording a time of 26:21.55, while Denzel Ramirez finished 19th with a time of 26:33.98. From there, the Trojans were spread out throughout the remainder of the race.
"We are a whole lot better than what we showed today," assistant track coach and distance coach Tommy Barksdale said. "We were just too spread out to do anything in the race, we just didn't do a good job of pack running."
Drew Horner was the next Trojan to finish, crossing the line 31st with a time of 27:23.92; while Terrence Dixon finished 44th with a time of 28:01.98. Brett Lewis just missed a top 50 finish, crossing the line 51st with a time of 28:16.69.
The two remaining runners who scored points for Troy Saturday morning were Drew Taylor with a 56th place finish (28:47.27) and Alec Hamm with a 63rd place finish (29:30.40). Adam Bradley crossed the line 65th with a time of 29:50.24, but failed to score for Troy.
Western Kentucky University captured the men's title with 50 points, followed by UALR with 94 and a tie between Middle Tennessee and North Texas for third with 110 points. South Alabama's Micah Tirop won the overall individual title with a time of 24:47.35.
Meanwhile, the Trojan women finished one spot ahead of the predicted finish with 193 points.
Kelly Harrington cross the line first for the Trojans, finishing 19th overall with a time of 19:44.66. She was followed across by Jenean Corcoran in 27th place with a time of 20:03.65 and Erika Fyrvall in 30th place with a time of 20:12.88.
Agata Cichoszewska ran her first race of the season and finished 54th overall with a time of 22:08.65. She was followed by Chontia Allen in 63rd with a time of 23:35.59 and Brentley Collins in 64th with a time of 23:56.15. Shay Matthews finished 68th overall with a time of 24:41.21 and Erin Clymer finished her career with a time of 27:05.01 and a 70th place finish.
"The women did unbelievable today," assistant track coach and distance coach Tommy Barksdale said. "They did as good as they could with what they had this year."
Western Kentucky University captured the overall championship with 32 total points, followed by Middle Tennessee with 74 and UALR with 112 points. Janet Jesang of WKU captured the overall championship with a time of 17:27.09 on the 5k course.
"Everybody ran their heart out today," Barksdale said. "The gave everything they had in the races this morning, doing all they could with what they had. We did our best."
The coaches and student-athletes will now evaluate their situations and begin preparations for the NCAA Regionals later this month.
