Trojans Hit Road for Key Conference Game

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University women's basketball team looks to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Middle Tennessee Thursday night, facing Arkansas State University on Jonesboro Sunday afternoon.
The Trojans were led by Alyce Shearing with nine points off the bench, while no player reached double figures in the loss to Middle Tennessee. Meanwhile, Arkansas State is coming off a loss to Denver on the road Thursday night.
The Trojans will not only battle the Indians on Sunday, but will battle the elements to arrive in Jonesboro for the game on Sunday as a winter storm has hit the southeast affecting the roadways.

TROJAN STORYLINES
Troy will look to bounce back from their worst loss of the season against Middle Tennessee State University last Thusday night ... the last time the Trojans lost by a margin that wide was to Middle Tennessee last season, and although they lost their next game, they rebounded against Arkansas State at home the following week ... Senior guard Amy Lewis had her string of consecutive games scoring in double figures snapped against Middle Tennessee; the streak reached 27 consecutive games (including 16 this season) ... The Trojans are making their first trip to Jonesboro to face Arkansas State today.

The first time the Trojans played on this date, they defeated Spring Hill 92-68 en route to a 21-9 record in 1979 ... THE LAST TIME, Arkansas State vs. TROY
* Arkansas State and Troy last met January 13 of last season at Trojan Arena. The Trojans ended a four-game losing streak against Arkansas State, picking up a much-needed 76-55 victory. In the game, the Trojans were able to break away in the first half for a 37-26 advantage, while shooting 50.8 (31-of-61) percent from the floor and 41.2 (7-of-17) percent from behind the arc. Kylie Morrissy led the Trojans that night with 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the floor. She also grabbed six rebounds and nine assists in the victory. Amy Lewis chipped in with 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor, while Danielle Realph added 17 in the victory; including five three-pointers. The Trojans also outrebounded Arkansas State 48-38, while forcing 20 turnovers in picking up the conference victory.
THE SERIES vs. ARKANSAS STATE
* This will be the fourth meeting all-time between Troy and Arkansas State, with the Indians holding a 2-1 advantage. Arkansas State won the first two meetings of the series, winning one in Troy and the other in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The Indians defeated Troy 76-65 on Februray 4, 2006 in Troy, before knocking the Trojans out of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament with a 68-62 victory in Murfreesboro, Tenn., March 2, 2006. The Trojans picked up their lone win of the series last season with a 76-55 victory at Trojan Arena.
* This will be the first meeting in Jonesboro.
STAT LINE OF THE DAY
* Sophomore forward Alyce Shearing played just seven minutes against Middle Tennessee State University Thursday night, but made the most of all seven. She scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds (all offensive), while hitting 3-of-6 shots from the floor.
CAREER NOTES
* Senior Laura Lee Holman scored her 1073rd career point Saturday afternoon, moving her up the scoring chart in the history of Troy basketball. She is currently in 13th place, just three points behind Jane Shulsen for 12th all-time.
* Senior Amy Lewis scored her 1,000th career point last season and is currently seventh on the all-time list with 1,412 points. She is passed Vicki Carreker for seventh all-time at Troy against Middle Tennessee, and is just 76 points behind Makeshia Sampson for sixth place all-time in school history.
* Lewis scored her 1,000th career point in Sun Belt Conference play with her performance against North Texas. She has scored 1,040 points in just 73 games played since Troy joined the Sun Belt Conference during her sophomore season.
* Lewis is just 57 rebounds short of joining the 1,000 point-500 rebounds club. She has all ready recorded 200 assists.
* Senior Audrey Muse is two games away from playing in her 100th career game.
* Muse recorded her 500th rebound against Fordham, and is just 158 points away from 1,000 career points.
* Junior Kylie Morrissy is 142 rebounds away from 500 for her career, and 23 assists away from 200 career.
* Morrissy is 169 points away from recording her 1,000th career point.
* Junior Danielle Realph is 25 three-point field goals away from recording her 100th of her career. She is currently the school's all-time leader in three point field goal percentage.
* Head coach Michael Murphy has recorded a 71-86 record at Troy University. He is currently 22 victories shy of tying Jerry Hester at 93 victories at the institution. He has also recorded 143 all-time in his career.
