Cross Country Teams Compete At Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. - The Troy University cross country teams came face-to-face with some of the top athletes in their sport on Saturday at the Auburn University Invitational at Indian Pines Golf Course.
The Troy men finished ninth in the 16-team field with an average time in the 8K event of 26:35.77 while the Trojan women finished 17th of 22 teams in a 5K race with an average time of 20:26.55.
Sophomore Jeremy Moujoodi (Hoover, Ala.) was the top runner for the Troy men, placing 37th overall with a time of 25:47.04. He crossed the finish line just over two minutes behind race winner Enoch Nadler of Florida, who posted a time of 23:46.28.
The nationally-ranked Gators took five of the top eight spots in the race, to capture the team title with an average time of 24:07.16. LSU, Auburn, Jacksonville State and Samford filled out the top five teams in the event.
Other individuals for Troy included junior Paul Boothe (Daphne, Ala.), who finished 47th with a time of 26:04.23; sophomore Brett Lewis (Jonesboro, Ga.), who finished 59th with a time of 26:25.75; freshman Tim Landry (Hoover), who finished 92nd with a time of 27:05.65; sophomore Terrence Dixon (Stone Mountain, Ga.), who finished 110th with a time of 27:36.14; sophomore Adam Bradley (Marietta, Ga.), who finished 126th with a time of 28:06.56 and freshman Michael Niezgoda (Homewood, Ala.), who finished 140th with a time of 28:45.09.
For the Troy women the top runner was junior Jenean Corcoran (Orlando, Fla.), who posted a time of 18:51.52 to finished 65th. Race winner Diane Nukuri of national power Iowa led the Hawkeyes to a second place team finish with a time of 15:55.69. Iowa had three of the top four runners in the event, but Florida edged the Hawkeyes for the team title by four points by placing five runners in the top 12.
In all, 11 of the top 16 runners in the event were from either Iowa or Florida.
The other runners for Troy included junior Jennifer Graham (Birmingham, Ala.), who finished 90th with a time of 19:24.01; freshman Brentley Collins (Fayetteville, Ga.), who finished 139th with a time of 21:00.66; freshman Kelly Harrington (Hoover), who finished 146th with a time of 21:17.76; junior Erin Clymer (Madison, Ala.), who finished 155th with a time of 21:38.77; sophomore Kimberly Tompkins (Enterprise, Ala.), who finished 156th with a time of 21:40.76; sophomore Brittney McGhee (Jonesboro, Ga.), who finished 175th with a time of 22:37.73 and junior Jocelyn Williams (Sanford, Fla.), who finished 185th with a time of 25:18.30.
The Troy runners will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Great American Invitational in Hoover. The Trojans will host the annual Coach “O” Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 20.
