The 2007 Troy University cross country teams will open their seasons on Friday at the Crimson Classic Invitational in Tuscaloosa.
“We are looking forward to opening our season this weekend at Alabama,” head coach Jill Lancaster said. “We expect Jeremy Moujoudi to continue to lead our young men's team to a new level this season.”
The Trojans have added depth to the team this season with the addition of freshmen Drew Horner (Hoover, Ala.) and Michael Niezgoda (Homewood, Ala.) along with sophomore Drew Horner (Orlando, Fla.). That trio joins with returning sophomores Moujoodi (Hoover, Ala.), Adam Bradley (Marietta, Ga.), Terrence Dixon (Stone Mountain, Ga.) and redshirt freshman Brett Lewis (Jonesboro, Ga.).
The only upperclassman on the squad is junior Paul Booth (Daphne, Ala.).
“The delay in opening our season allowed our group to get an extra week of training in and allowed our team to bond,” Lancaster said.
The Trojans' women's team will also open competition this weekend, led by junior Jenean Corcoran.
“Our women's team is working very hard and is being lead by school record holder Jenean Corcoran,” Lancaster said. “She has stepped up her training, along with the rest of the team. We do not have as much depth as on the men's side but expect our group to improve over last season's performances.”
In addition to Corcoran, the Trojans will have freshmen Bentley Collins (Fayetteville, Ga.), Kelly Harrington (Hoover, Ala.) and sophomores Jennifer Graham (Birmingham, Ala.) and Kimberly Tompkins (Enterprise, Ala.) set to compete.
Some members of the Troy track team, including junior heptathlete Erin Clymer (Madison, Ala.), sophomore sprinters Faith Hampton (Sanford, Fla.), Brittney McGhee (Jonesboro, Ga.) and junior sprinter Jocelyn Williams (Sanford, Fla.) may also see action in the meet.
