Trojans Lose Tough One in Miami

MIAMI - Junior Amy Lewis scored 26-points for the Trojans on Thursday night against Florida International but in the end it was not enough as the Golden Panther took the game, 66-61.
Lewis made nine baskets and was five for six from the charity stripe in the loss. Lewis also performed well on the boards grabbing nine rebounds.
Also assisting the Trojans was sophomore Danielle Realph with 12-points as she hit two for three from behind the arc and finished the game four for seven from the field.
Troy shot 33.3 percent from the field while FIU shot 42 percent but did shoot 88.9 percent from the free throw line making 16 for 18.
Troy tied the game at 46 with 13:46 remaining after trading points with the Golden Panthers but never able to take the lead. FIU then caught fire making two lay-ups in a row to increase its lead to six, 54-48.
With four minutes remaining the Trojans trailed by eight and had not scored in three minutes but did hold FIU to just one basket during that time, 58-50 7:54.
In the first half, Troy led 23-16 before FIU went on a hot streak as it held Troy to one basket as it scored ten, 26-25 5:28. Troy would not score for five minutes as FIU took the lead, 29-25 but the Trojans did cut the lead with 2:52 remaining to two, 29-27.
Troy took the lead with 27.1 seconds remaining in the half on two free throws by Lewis but FIU got the luck of the draw making two free throws after a foul by Roper with 7.1 seconds, 33-32 FIU.
Lewis led all scorers at the half with 12-points as she hit three of four from the charity stripe. Lewis also pulled down five rebounds.
Morrissy only posted five-points at the half but proved to be strong on the boards to begin the game as she grabbed eight rebounds, six on offense.
The Trojans will end its two game road swing on Saturday when it travels to Little Rock, Ark., to face the Trojans of UALR at 4:30 p.m.
