Troy Pounds Georgia Southern

DOTHAN, Ala.- The Troy Trojans used another late inning rally to beat Georgia Southern by a score of 16-10.
Troy (7-3) scored seven runs in the last two innings to pull away and get the win.
The Trojans started the seventh inning with a single from Shohei Fujita followed by a single from Ian Craze. Brett Pierce had a sac bunt advancing both runners. Hot hitting Kevin Weidlich had a two RBI single to left field giving the Trojans an 11-9 lead. Bryan Miller had an RBI single scoring Clint Robinson, who was walked, opening the flood gates for Troy.
Troy added four more runs in the eight inning when Brett henry and Fujita singled. Josh Dew and Pierce both had RBI singles to help increase the lead to 16-9.
Rob Brown (2-0) came in for Clegg Snipes. Snipes pitched a four innings giving up seven runs but only two were earned. Brown came in and pitched well. Brown gave up three hits over two inning while striking out three.
To start the game Georgia Southern (8-5) was issued two free rides to the first two batters by way of walks. Those run eventually came around to score and the Eagles took an early 3-0 lead.
Troy answered with a double by Robinson advancing Pierce to third, who had a single earlier in the inning. Dew came up next and hit a two RBI single up the middle bringing the Trojans to within one.
In the second inning, Dew got back on track with his second home run of the season.
The Trojans plated three more in the sixth when Robinson hit his second double of the game scoring Pierce. Dew then doubled to right scoring Robinson who later scored on an RBI single by Miller.
The Trojans pounded out 21 hits. That is the highest hit total of the season by Troy. One sore spot for the Trojans was they made six errors on the night.
Troy was led by Dew, who had four hits. Robinson and Weidlich each had two hits. Craze, Pierce, miller, Henry and Fujita all had two hits each.
The Trojans will face undefeated Southern Miss tomorrow afternoon.
