Trojans lead NCAA in 3-point percentage

TROY, Ala. - Troy University is listed among the top five in two categories in the NCAA statistics, released earlier this week, and are in the top 70 in three other categories as a team. The Trojans also have two players listed in six categories by the NCAA, in the the top 60 in the country.
The Trojans currently lead all NCAA Division I-A teams in three point field goal percentage at 45.3 percent per game, while they are ranked fifth in the nation in total field goal percentage at 48.8 percent.
Troy (5-2) is listed at 39th in assists per game, averaging 16.3 per game, while they are listed at 56th in three-point field goals made per game at 6.1. The final statistical category that Trojans are listed in the top 70 is in won-loss percentage.
The Trojans also have two players listed in the nation, with senior Amy Lewis listed in four categories - which rank the top 100 in the country. Lewis is seventh in the country in free throw percentage, connecting 95 percent of her shots from the charity stripe. She is 14th in three-point field goal percentage at 48.4 percent, 40th in scoring at 18.6 points per game and 56th in field goal percentage at 53.3 percent per game. Junior point guard Larelle Roper is 11th in the country in assists per game, averaging 6.7, and is 20th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.24.
Troy is also ranked in the top five in the Sun Belt in 12 different team categories; including leading the conference in field goal percentage (.488), three-point field goal percentage (.453), rebounding defense (33.9) and assists (16.29). They are ranked fourth in scoring offense (67.1), scoring margin (+6.6), and three-point field goals per game (6.14). The Trojans are ranked fifth in scoring defense (60.6), field goal percentage defense (.388), three-point field goal percentage defense (33.9) and rebounding margin (+0.4).
The Trojans are also listed among the top individual in the conference with Roper leading the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.583) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.24). She is also ranked second in assists (6.71) and minutes played (35.43). Lewis is ranked in the top four in six different categories, while senior Audrey Muse is fifth in field goal percentage (.512). Junior Kylie Morrissy is ranked in the top 15 in six different categories, while junior Danielle Realph is ranked in the top eight in two different statistical categories.
Troy returns to the court, after an 11-day layoff, against UT-Pan American on Saturday in the Flint Hills Resources Islander Invitational. The game is set to tip at 5 p.m. in Corpus Christi.
