TROY, Ala. - Troy University head women's basketball coach Michael Murphy announced the addition of senior guard Laura Lee Holman to the roster for the second half of the season.
Holman rejoins the team for the second semester after missing all but two games last season due to personal reasons. She will add more scoring off the bench for the Trojans, and enable Murphy to rest junior point guard Larelle Roper and senior guard Amy Lewis - both of whom are averaging nearly 35 minutes per game.
The senior from Columbus, Miss., is a member of the 1,000-point club and currently sits 15th on the all-time list for the Trojans. Combined with Lewis, they will become just the third set of teammates to don the black and cardinal at the same time and be members of the illustrious club.
Holman has played in 85 games throughout her career, with 84 starts, and is averaging 11.8 points per game. She is shooting 36.3 (371-of-1022) percent from the floor and 35.2 (162-of-460) percent from behind the arc. She also is shooting 74.8 (98-of-131) percent from the free throw line. Holman has also grabbed 336 rebounds, dished out 169 assists and recorded 92 steals. She set a career-high with 37 points against Gardner-Webb January 20, 2005.
Currently, she ranks second in three-point field goals made and third in three-point field goals attempted at Troy.
Holman will make her debut this weekend as Troy (5-2) plays UT-Pan American in the first game of the Flint Hills Resources Islander Invitational in Corpus Christi. The game is set to tip-off at 5 p.m. in south Texas.
