Lady Hilltoppers Too Much for Trojans

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Trojans were unable to contain Western Kentucky on Thursday as it suffered one of its worst losses of the season falling by a final score of 92-69.
Sophomore Kylie Morrissy guided the Trojans (8-6, 1-3 SBC) as she posted 19 points. Morrissy was seven for 11 from the field and five for six from the free throw line.
Also assisting the Trojan offense was sophomore Danielle Realph who posted 14 points and pulled down five rebounds. From the field Realph was five for nine and two for three from behind the arc.
As a team, Troy shot 46.3 percent from the field and shot 70 percent from the free throw line but problems rebounding ended up being the story of the game. Troy ended the game 25 for 54 while the Lady Hilltoppers (8-4, 3-1) were 33 for 75.
Troy only pulled down 28 rebounds and could grab only five on offense. Western Kentucky however grabbed 51 rebounds with 24 coming on the offensive side of the ball.
Western Kentucky had three players score in the double figures with one having a double-double. WKU's Crystal Kelly posted 27 points as she was nine for 12 from the field and nine for 13 from the charity stripe. Kelly also pulled down 14 rebounds with 12 coming on defense.
Kenzie Rich posted 15 points for the Lady Toppers as all of her points were scored from behind the arc. Rich ended the game five for 10 from behind the arc. Dominique Duck scored 19 as she was seven of 13 from the field and four of six from the charity stripe.
Junior Amy Lewis also posted in the double figures with 11 points as she was three for eight from behind the arc and pulled down three rebounds.
Troy started the second half off slow scoring only one basket at the start before going on a four minute dry spell and allowing the Lady Toppers to score 10 unanswered points.
Troy scored nine unanswered points in the first half to take its first lead of the game, 25-20, with 7:30. The Trojans were unable to keep the lead and trailed by five at the half, 43-38.
Leading the Trojans in scoring at halftime was Morrissy with 11 followed by Lewis with eight points.
The Trojans will travel south to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for its next match-up on Saturday when it faces Middle Tennessee at 7 p.m.
