The Bears improved to 4-2-1 behind a goal from forward Rachel Anderson. Anderson took the deflection of a Laura Hudson shot and directed it into the goal. Hudson was credited with the assist.
For the Trojans, Caiti Norton and Evelyn Keith both attempted two shots. Jennifer Currie started in goal and made three saves while allowing the lone goal. She was relieved after halftime by Katy Kolb, who made one save.
Heather Joye played the entire game in goal for Central Arkansas allowing no goals and recording two saves.
Troy Head Coach Diana Niland believed her team played well in some areas, but lacked in others.
We did some things right, but we're not quite getting other things done,” Niland said. A couple of little things got us.”
She saw a positive in her team's defensive effort, We played a team that has scored some goals and we held them to one. That's a step in the right direction.”
The Bears had scored 23 goals in their previous six matches.
Troy will play next on Friday, September 22, at 3 p.m. versus Arkansas State in their 2006 Sun Belt Conference opener.
