Johnson Qualifies For NCAA Regional Championships

Monique Johnson destroyed her own school record and in doing so qualified for the NCAA Regional Track and Field Championships in Knoxville May 26-27 with one of the fastest collegiate times in the United States this weekend at the Seminole Twilight Meet at Florida State.

Her time of 13.67 easily beat her previous record of 13.94 set two weeks ago at Auburn as she fell just short of Florida State All America LaKendra McColumn, who turned in a time of 13.62.

The Trojan team of Tanisha Davis, Tawanna Meadows, Mildred Harris and Ronella Gollman edged Albany State for the victory in the 4 x 100-meter relay with a time of 46.51. Monique Jordan took second in the women's discus with an effort of 139-6.

The Trojans depart Wednesday for Lafayette, La., and the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
