Track and Field Travels to Florida A&M

On the men's team, the Trojans look forward to building upon the performances they set last weekend at the Florida State Snowbird Invitational.
In jumps, the team will rely again on senior Michael Acree's performance in the long jump. Joining him in jumps will be senior Matt VanZandt, freshmen Michael Nichols, Adrian Culbertson, Richard Stein and Cory Harris.
The Trojans look to junior Vaughn Pickens and freshman Ben Parnell to handle hurdles at the FAMU Relays.
In sprints, VanZandt, freshmen Keaton Anderson and Lamar Hicks will lead the way for the team.
The 4x100-meter relay team will be composed of Acree, freshman Lamar Hicks, seniors Don Pitter and Louis Harris.
"We are mixing up our men's 4 x 100 team this week and will put Hicks on with the team at anchor with seniors Louis Harris, Mike Acree and Don Pitter to see if we have the right combination," said Troy head track and field coach Bob Lambert.Contending for a spot on the 4x400-meter relay team will be VanZandt, Culbertson, Michael Acree, Dennis Acree, Cory Harris and junior DeLaRenta Hawkins.
The 1,600-meter sprint medley team will consist of Louis Harris, Pitter, senior Brandon Hughes and freshman Ryan Sanders.
In middle distances, the Trojans will rely on Sanders, Hughes and Hawkins. Joining them to add depth to the team will be freshmen Kyle Scott, Aadam Soorma, Drew Horner, and Paul Boothe.
The distance medley team composes of Hawkins, Soorma, Horner and Boothe.
In field events, the team relies on leaders senior Michael Heck, juniors Ryan Baker and Scott Crews. Joining them will be decathletes Louis Harris and VanZandt. The freshmen competing will be Norman Austin, Ryan Schmeling, Richard Stein, and Kyle Wisham.
On the women's team, the Trojans look to sophomore Tawanna Meadows to continue her success from the indoor season into the outdoor season.
In jumps, Meadows and junior Monique Johnson are set to lead the way. Joining will be freshman Agata Cichosweska, sophomores Kristen Fleming, Erin Clymer, and Karla Blankenship.
Johnson, Clymer and senior Jennifer Hogg make up the hurdles team competing at the FAMU Relays.
In sprints, a composition to look forward to will be Meadows, junior Ronella Gollman, seniors Tanisha Davis and Mildred Harris. Adding depth to sprints will be sophomore Jocelyn Williams and junior Carrie Wallace.
Meadows, Davis, Gollman and junior Shakavia Henderson will compete in the 4x100-meter relay and the 16,000-meter sprint medley team will switch out by having Williams and freshman Laide Onikoyi added to the team.
"It will be the first time Davis, Meadows, Henderson and Gollman have run together as a team and we're excitedabout the possibilities based on their excellent indoor sprinting season," Lambert said. "We are looking to meet the NCAA qualifying times in both our men's and women's 4x100 relay teams this week."
Senior Julia Miller, freshmen Jenean Cocoran, Mallory Wellman, Farrah Stewart, and Jennifer Graham will be competing for a spot on the distance medley team.
In field events, the Trojans will rely on Blankenship, sophomore Shenita Howell, freshmen Java Dawson, Monique Jordan, and Bridget Angstadt to compete well.
The Troy track and field teams will begin competition at 11 a.m. on March 10 in Tallahassee, Fla., at the FAMU campus.
