Dixon Named First-team All-Sun Belt Conference

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Senior guard Bobby Dixon has been named first-team All-Sun Belt Conference by a panel of coaches and media members, the conference announced this afternoon in conjunction with the start of the league tournament. The Chicago native is the 10th Trojan selected first-team all-conference in 13 years of Division I membership, but the first from the Sun Belt.
Dixon is among the conference leaders in several statistical categories. He leads the league in assists (6.44 per game), steals (3.00 per game) and three-pointers (3.19 per game). Additionally he ranks second in assist/turnover ratio (1.96), third in scoring (18.1 points per game), 13th in free throw percentage (.717), 17th in rebounding (5.3 per game), 14th in three-point percentage (.394) and third in minutes played (34.48 per game).
Dixon topped double figures in scoring in every game this season, tallying a pair of double-doubles. He scored 18 points and dished out 16 assists against Western Kentucky, while recording 17 points and 10 assists against Denver. His assist total against the Hilltoppers on Jan. 19 set the Division I school record while tying the overall mark.
The only player to reach double figures in all 27 games this year, Dixon topped the 20-point mark nine times, including a career-best 32 points at South Alabama, the best effort by a Trojan since 2003.
He ranks third on the Division I chart with 177 three-pointers and has amassed 930 points in just two seasons at Troy.
The Trojans, seeded sixth in the West Division after tying for fourth in the standings, open tournament action Friday night at 7:30 against No. 3 East Arkansas State. By avenging a 91-68 loss to the Indians on Feb. 1, the Trojans would face West Division rival Louisiana-Lafayette Sunday night at 8:30 p.m.
