TROY, Ala. -- The Troy University women's basketball team will return home on Thursday to host North Texas in the first game of a two-game homestand that wraps up the regular season. The game will be the first of a double header with the men's team, who tips off against the Mean Green at 7:30.
The Trojans are coming off a 61-40 loss to in-state foe South Alabama on Monday. The Trojans' 40 points represent the second-lowest point total of the season for the Trojans. Troy scored just 16 points in the first half of that loss, while committing 12 turnovers through the first 20 minutes. Amy Lewis led Troy with 14 points in that loss.
North Texas is coming off a 74-69 loss at Denver on Saturday. Mia Ajekwu and Erika Bobo led UNT with 17 and 14 points, respectively.
Troy (9-15, 3-10) and North Texas (17-8, 11-3) met on Jan. 25 in Denton, Texas, where the Mean Green topped the Trojans 71-46. The Trojans shot just 30 percent from the floor in that loss, and their 18 turnovers resulted in 17 points for UNT. The Trojans were led by their freshmen in that game, as Troy's four freshmen shot a combined 11-of-17 (64.7 percent) from the floor, and finished with 26 of Troy's 46 points. Danielle Realph led Troy with 15 points in that loss, while Bobo scored 18 for the Mean Green.
