Trojans fall short, 2-1

TROY, Ala. - Evelyn Keith scored late for the Troy Trojans soccer team, but her goal was not enough to put the Trojans on top as they fell to North Texas by a score of 2-1.

Amanda Johnson scored in the sixth minute for the Mean Green and her squad was held scoreless for the next 77 minutes until Jamie Yates broke through to put North Texas up 2-0.

Keith connected in the 90th minute with a header into the net off a Kasey Pruett cross for the Trojans to put Troy on the board and end the scoring.

Katy Kolb recorded four saves while allowing two goals for the Trojans as she went the full 90 minutes.

Kandice Ellis stopped two shots and allowed one goal while playing the entire match in goal.

The Trojans will hit the field for the final time at home in 2006 on Sunday at noon when they face Denver in their home finale. Sunday will also serve as Senior Day for the graduating Trojans.
