Trojans Picked to Tie for Fifth in Sun Belt Preseason Poll

The Trojans have been picked to tie with Florida Atlantic behind South Alabama in the East division of the Sun Belt Conference.
The league also announced that senior Laura Lee Holman is a member of the preseason third team. The senior averaged 12.5 points and 2.8 assists over 25 games last year. Holman scored in double figured 17 times including a season high 30 points against the Naval Academy.
A native of Columbus, Miss., Holman shot .376 percent (115-306) from the floor and .386 percent (51-132) from behind the arc. Holman also led the team in assists with 73 set a career high for steals with four against Austin Peay.
In addition to being named to the preseason first team, Middle Tennessee's Chrissy Givens was selected Preseason Player of the Year.
With 74 points and nine of 13 first-place votes Middle Tennessee is picked to win the East division with Arkansas State taking all in the west with 87 points and 10 first-place votes.
Also in the east, Western Kentucky received three first-place votes and 67 point to finish second. Florida International received one first-place vote and 52 points for its third-place finish. South Alabama received 38 points for its fourth-place spot compared to Troy and FAU's 21 points.
In the west, North Texas received one first-place vote and 65 points for its second-place finish. Louisiana-Lafayette received two first-place votes and 64 points to place third.
UALR is fourth with 55 and Denver came in fifth with 48 points. To round out the field in the west division, Louisiana-Monroe had 31 points and New Orleans 14 to place sixth and seventh respectively in the poll.
