Trojan Duo Returns with Indoor Pentathlon Experience

Clemson, S.C.- Junior Monique Johnson and sophomore Erin Clymer competed in their first pentathlon at Clemson on Friday.
Johnson finished 11th with 3078 points and Clymer 12th with 2878 points, respectively in a field of 17 athletes.
Johnson lead the way for the duo in the 60-meter hurdles finishing in ninth place with a time of 9.23 seconds and tenth in shot put with a throw of 28'8”.
Johnson placed 14th behind Clymer in the long jump with a distance of 15'5”.
Clymer lead the way for the duo in the high jump landing in fifth with a leap of 5'4”and Johnson placed ninth with a leap of 5'2”.
In the 60m hurdles Clymer finished 15th with a time of 10.06 seconds, landed 13th in the long jump with a distance of 15' 6” and placed 17th in shot put with a distance of 22'9”.
This was my first indoor pentathlon experience, which was good to have under my belt before the conference indoor pentathlon,” Clymer said.
The duo stuck together in the 800-meter run tying in ninth place with the time of 2:39.34.
"We were on another information gathering mission, and learned what we have to do to prepare for the Sun Belt Indoor Championships next month back at Middle Tennessee State,” said women's head coach Jill Lancaster. Both Monique and Erin will be much smarter and better prepared to do battle at the conference championships, however, I'm very pleased with their initial efforts."
The Trojans women's indoor track and field team will compete back in Clemson, S.C., on Feb. 10-11 at the Clemson Invitational before they prepare for the Sun Belt Championships on Feb. 25.
