Rounding out the field for the men were freshman Paul Boothe (58th, 27:21.06), sophomore Jordan Mahan (83rd, 28:29.18), freshmen Will Browder (88th, 28:55.65) and Ryan Sanders (103rd, 30:09.36).
This was an excellent first effort for the team, I was especially pleased with the way our freshmen responded in their first college meet,” Troy distance coach Doc Anderson said.
Freshman Farrah Stewart clocked the fastest time for a freshman cross country runner in school history as she led the women's team in her collegiate debut with a time of 18:34.11 earning a 16th-place finish.
The women also saw help from two other freshmen Jenean Cocoran and Mallory Wellman. Cocoran placed 53rd with a time of 19:46.40 and Wellman came in 54th with her time of 19:50.07.
Farrah got it going early and just kept pounding, while Jenean and Mallory put the hammer down pretty good also,” Anderson said.
Finishing things up for the women were freshman Jennifer Graham (70th, 20:15.89), junior Meghan Macdonald (72nd, 20:23.07), freshmen Lauryn Higgins (78th, 20:33.57) and Angela Fussell (137th, 23:36.66).
