UNT Hands Troy First Sun Belt Loss

North Texas (6-2-2, 1-0 Sun Belt) out-shot the Trojans (4-4-0, 2-1-0 Sun Belt) 28-7, and the Mean Green amassed 14 shots on goal compared to the Trojans' three.
Brittany Cleveland put UNT on top when she scored on a deflection off an assist from Heather Hutyra in the 13th minute. Kelli Lunsford passed to Hutyra to set up the shot.
The Mean Green added another goal just three minutes later when Hutyra connected with Jamie Yates who scored from five yards out in the middle of the box.
Hutyra was on the receiving end of a pass from Cleveland in the 20th minute, and she scored from 15 yards out from the top of the box.
UNT added one final goal in the 51st minute when Lunsford scored on a penalty kick.
Laura Longard played 67:48 in the net for the Trojans, recording eight saves while allowing four goals. Jennifer Currie recorded two saves for Troy in 22 minutes of play.
Kandice Ellis recorded three saves in the shutout effort.
The Trojans return to action on Sunday when they play at Denver at 1 p.m.
