In addition to host Mercer, a few schools competing in the meet are; Georgia, Piedmont, Emory, Berry, West Georgia, UNC-Ashville, Valdosta State, Augusta State and Savannah College of Art and Design.
Junior Brandon Hughes will be the leader for the men's team this week. Hughes placed sixth in the Trojans last outing at the FSU Invitational with his time of 25:18.
Brandon Hughes, Drew Horner and Aadam Soorma had some excellent training sessions over the past 10 days,” Director of track and field Bob Lambert said.
On the women's side, freshman Farrah Stewart has been the leader on a young team comprised of mostly freshmen. Stewart placed 28th with a time of 19:08 at the FSU Invitational.
Farrah Stewart and Jenean Corcoran have also run very well in training. The week will witness the debut of senior Julia Miller and freshman Laide Onikoyi. Both are middle distance specialists, but both have been training well and we're going to find out if it translates to cross country at Mercer,” Lambert said.
The women's 5K race will begin at 9 a.m. with the men's 8K to follow at 9:35 a.m. at the Georgia Children's Home on Mumford Road.
