Megan Kosiba put Troy (4-3-0, 2-0 Sun Belt) on the board first with her third goal of the weekend, scoring from the left side off an assist from Brittany Stoltz in the 13th minute.
Troy went up 2-0 when Teresa Herring scored on a fast break, with assists from Evelyn Keith and Erin Kniery, in the 39th minute.
In the second half, Herring passed to Jenna Mosher, who found Brittany White 10 yards out on the right side. White scored, giving Troy the 3-0 lead with less than 29 minutes remaining.
A shot by Vanessa DaCosta hit the right post in the 84th minute, but Beth McClendon was there to punch in the miss, giving Troy the final score of 4-0.
Defensively, Troy kept UALR (1-9-1, 0-2 Sun Belt) from doing any damage, allowing just eight shots, only one in the second period. Goalkeeper Laura Longard recorded six saves in the shut out, the Trojans second of the season.
The Trojans tallied 14 shots, five on goal. UALR keeper Marsha Stewart finished with one save and four goals allowed.
This was really big for us to go out and win our first two league games,” Troy head coach Diana Niland said. We had a lot of players step up and really play well this weekend. These were the teams ranked right above us in the preseason rankings, so it was big to go out and take two games from them.”
The Trojans return to action next weekend facing a much tougher schedule. On Friday, the Trojans travel to Denton, Texas, to face the preseason No. 1 team, North Texas, then on Sunday they play at the preseason No. 2 team, Denver, at noon.
