TROY, Ala. - The Troy University cross country teams will compete in their second meet of the season on Saturday when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to compete in the FSU Invitational hosted by Florida State University.
There are 17 men's and 19 women's teams competing in the meet this weekend, including Auburn, Clemson, Florida Atlantic, UCF, North Florida, Jacksonville, Florida A&M, Florida Tech and Bethune-Cookman.
The men will turn to junior Brandon Hughes, who led the team last weekend at the Gator Invitational with his eighth-place finish in the 8K.
"Brandon Hughes will again lead the men's team and hope to run near the front of the pack. While Drew Horner, Aadam Soorma, Paul Boothe and Jordan Mahan will try to bunch together and help our team score," Director of track and field Bob Lambert said.
The women will look to freshman Farrah Stewart, who led the women's team in her collegiate debut with a 16th-place finish.
"Farrah Stewart will try to duplicate her incredible start from last weekend's meet at Florida and we're hoping Jenean Corcoran and Mallory Wellman will be able to get up near the front also," Lambert said.
The men's 8K race will begin at 7:30 a.m. while the women's 5K race will follow at 8:10 a.m. at the Miccosukee Greenway Park.
