Trojans Fall 5-0 at Alabama

Alabama took the 1-0 lead when Libby Probst scored from five yards out on an assist from Jordan O'Banion in the eighth minute.
It looked like the Crimson Tide tacked another goal to their lead late in the half when Kailey Corken punched in a missed shot by off a corner kick. The goal was called off, however, as Alabama was whistled for offsides.
The Crimson Tide (4-1-0) out shot Troy (1-2-0) 16-3 in the first half. Trojans goalkeeper tallied five first-half saves and allowed one goal. All three of the Trojans' first-half shots were on goal, and Alabama goalkeeper Karen Lansden recorded four saves through the first 45 minutes.
Alabama dominated the second half, as they maintained possession through the final 45 minutes, as Troy could not get off a shot until there was less than five minutes remaining in the match.
Meanwhile, Alabama's offense gathered steam, scoring four goals in the second half, three in the final 18 minutes of play.
UA built a 2-0 lead when Kylie Boyd scored on an assist from Probst in the 53rd minute. Probst put the Tide up 3-0 with her second goal of the match, after O'Banion connected with Stang who found Probst within striking distance.
Alabama went up 4-0 when Su4:3zanne Baker found Susie Beard inside the box in the 88th minute. The Crimson Tide scored their final goal of the match with just one second remaining. After a Troy foul and with the clock ticking under 20 seconds, Alabama head coach Don Staley encouraged his team to let time expire, but the officials urged UA to put the ball in play, and Baker's free kick found the back of the net, making the final score 5-0.
The Crimson Tide totaled 29 shots in the game, including 14 on goal. Troy managed just four shots, three coming on goal. Fouls were nearly identical, with Troy committing 18 and Alabama being whistled for 19.
Laura Longard tended goal the entire 90 minutes for Troy and notched nine saves in the match. Karen Lansden and Kara Gudmens each spent 45 minutes at goal for Alabama to combine for the shut out. Lansden finished with three saves.
The Trojans return to action on Friday when they face Northwestern State in the South Alabama Tournament. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
