Lewis set two new school records in the hammer and discus at last Saturday's Coach O” Invitational. The Enfield, N.C., native won the hammer while setting a new school record with a throw of 155'1”. Lewis also won the discus when she surpassed her own school record set earlier in the season with a distance of 142'11”.
Lewis also won the shot put with a throw of 40'.
Baker finished second in the hammer with a distance of 157'11” which put him first in the league in this event. The Leesburg, Ala., native also placed second in the discus with a throw of 147'3”.
Baker also finished third in the shot put with a distance of 46'6”.
This is an amazing accomplishment for these athletes. They have improved so much since the start of the season and last season,” Throwers coach Gloria Gerard said. Both of these athletes are willing to learn, work hard to get what they want and are very dedicated.”
The Troy track and field team will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Mobile, Ala., to compete in the South Alabama Invitational.
