Bargmann won the 1,500-meter dash at last weekend's South Alabama Invitational with a school record breaking time of 4:35.02. Her performance marked the third time this season that she has broken a school record. Bargmann's time in this event is also the second best in the league this season.
Belinda's 4:35 in 1500 was remarkable in that she virtually ran it alone, against the clock,” Director of track Bob Lambert said. This week she'll finally be challenged in race as she competes head to head against Alicia Valtin from Campbell who's run a conference leading 4:29.75.”
Hawkins finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.46 seconds. The Montgomery, Ala. native's time is a personal best as well as the best time recorded in the league this season. Hawkins is also a member of the men's 4x400 meter relay team.
DeLaRenta's 400 time was the culmination of a lot of hard work this spring. We've asked him to do everything from short sprints, to relays, to the open 400,” Lambert said. Look for him to really lay one down at the A-Sun Championships this weekend in the 400 finals.”
The Trojans also swept the A-Sun honors last week when junior Katrina Lewis and sophomore Ryan Baker were awarded the honor for their performances at the Coach O” Invitational.
The Troy track and field team will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Nashville, Tenn., to compete in the Atlantic Sun Track and Field Championship at the Vanderbilt Track Complex.
