Freshman Tawanna Meadows got the team started with her performance in the 100-meter dash. Meadows finished third in the event with a time of 11.74 seconds. Her time broke the 100m dash school record set by LaToya Lewis in 2001, while at the same time qualifying her for the NCAA Regionals in May.
Meadows also finished second in the 200 with a time of 24. 26 seconds.
Sophomore Carrie Wallace set a personal best, while breaking a school record in the 400m dash. The Thomson, Ga., native finished second with a time of 54.99 seconds, which broke the record set by LeUrsula Lumpkin in 2001 with a time of 55.25 seconds.
Carrie and Tawanna have been dominant throughout the outdoor season in their events, and school records and a regional qualifier for Tawanna are recognition of two young ladies who are working hard to be the very best they can be,” Director of track Bob Lambert said.
Senior Belinda Bargmann won the 5,000-meter run as she smashed the school record. Bargmann finished with a time of 17:11.82 setting a new personal best and a new school record. The previous record was set by teammate senior Lindsey Waldrop in 2004 with a time of 17:55.70.
This was truly a remarkable meet. Belinda's effort in the 5000 was nothing short of amazing,” Lambert said. The training she's been doing with Doc Anderson is really beginning to pay off.”
Junior Katrina Lewis broke her own school record in the discus two weeks after first breaking it. The Enfield, N.C., native finished fourth breaking the school record with a distance of 141'1”. Lewis held the previous record with a distance of 140'1” set on March 5 at the Florida State Snowbird Invitational.

John's throw in the javelin was a solid effort, and once he gets a full approach it will be interesting to see how far he can throw,” Lambert said.
