Ramsey Leads Six in Double Figures as Trojans Roll Over Oakwood

TROY, Ala. -- Boo Ramsey hit six of nine three-point attempts enroute to career-high 22 points to lead Troy to a 111-72 victory over Oakwood in the home opener Wednesday night at Trojan Arena. Five other players reached double figures as the Trojans improved to 2-1 on the season.
Troy scored the first five points of the game, then lead 18-9 before Oakwood fought back. The Ambassadors (3-7) cut the lead to five and trailed by only eight, 23-15 with 12:33 left in the first half. But the Trojans scored eight straight points to stretch the lead back to 18 at the midway point of the stanza.
Oakwood cut the margin back to 11 at 37-26 with 6:54 left, but a 14-2 run pushed the margin over 20 for time, 51-28 with 3:23 to play. The Trojans scored the final 10 points of the period over the last 1:27 to lead 63-32 at the break.
The second half was much of the same with the lead reaching its biggest spread of 47 points, 107-60 with 3:42 remaining.
Troy shot 60 percent in the contest, including 66.7 percent in the first half, but had 20 turnovers. However, the Trojan defense forced 18 turnovers, blocked 10 shots and had 13 steals. Oakwood also shot just 33.3 percent from the field.
After Ramsey, Bobby Dixon had 19 points and six assists, while Daryl Davis added a career-high 18 points. Jacob Hazouri finished with 13 points, Cedric Jackson 12 and Sammy Sharp 10. Jackson added a team-season-best 10 rebounds for his first career double-double.
Terrell Black led four Ambassadors in double figures with 21 points.
Troy returns to action Friday night at Southeastern Louisiana. The next home game is a week from Saturday, Dec. 3, against Stillman.
