Megan Kosiba put the Trojans (4-6-0, 2-3-0 Sun Belt) on top when she scored her fourth goal of the season in the 18th minute.
In the 29th minute, Kalyn O'Shea scored off assists by Christi Banas and Ana Cariena to put WKU (3-5-3, 1-0-1 Sun Belt) on the board and knot the game at one, and the teams went into the break in a draw.
Less than two minutes into the second half, O'Shea struck again, scoring off a corner kick by Alica Dalby.
Ten minutes later, in the 57th minute, Banas scored from 10 yards out on the left side off passes from Jenna Silverberg and Kristi Cocchiarella to give WKU a 3-1 advantage.
Cocchiarella delivered the final blow when she scored off assists from Carinena and Wilkowski in the 68th minute.
The Trojans and Lady Toppers were fairly even statistically through the first half, with WKU getting off five shots and the Trojans taking seven. Both teams had three shots on goal, including one score.
The second half was a different story, however, as WKU outshot Troy 12-2, including a 10-1 shots-on-goal advantage.
This was a tale of two halves,” Troy head coach Diana Niland said. We played both our best half and our worst half today. Never have I seen such a change in one game.”
Trojans keeper Laura Longard recorded seven saves while allowing four goals through 75 minutes. Jennifer Currie played the final 15 minutes for Troy, and notched two saves.
WKU's Meredith Goodson tallied two saves and allowed one goal through 75 minutes. Nikki Ryan recorded one save in 15 minutes of play.
The Trojans return to action on Sunday when they host Middle Tennessee at 1 p.m.
