Trojans prepared for Auburn Invitational
10/6/2005 12:00:00 AM | Track & Field
In addition to Troy and host Auburn, there are 26 teams competing at Saturday's meet including Alabama, Alabama State, South Alabama, Samford, Birmingham Southern, Emory, LSU, Georgia State, Lipscomb, Mississippi State and Southern Mississippi.
Auburn has a traditionally fast course, and generally we get quite a few personal best times if the course is dry. However the rain over the next two days could change the conditions drastically,” Director of track and field Bob Lambert said.
The men will turn to junior Brandon Hughes, who has been a strong leader on this young team. Hughes won the Mercer Invitational last Saturday with his time of 24:42.
We expect Brandon to go out with the leaders and see how long he can hang in there with them, hopefully for the entire race,” Lambert said.
On the women's side, freshman Farrah Stewart will guide the women's team as she has done since her collegiate debut on Sept. 9. Stewart has placed first for the Trojans at every meet this season.
The men's 8K race will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women's 5K race to follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Indian Pines Golf Course.
