The tournament, hosted by South Alabama, begins on Wednesday and runs through Saturday. The Trojans (4-9-1, 2-5-1 Sun Belt) will face second-seeded Middle Tennessee State (12-4-2, 6-1-2) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Trojans and Blue Raiders finished in a 1-1 double-overtime draw when the teams met on Oct. 9.
The Trojans have not played for more than a week, with their last match coming as a 2-1 loss at Louisiana-Lafayette on Oct. 23. MTSU is coming into the tournament on a hot streak, as they have finished 6-0 since their tie with Troy.
Our goal going into the season was to make the tournament field,” Troy head coach Diana Niland said. We had some must-win games, and we won those. We've been playing well, and we're in a good place in our training. If we play well, we could upset somebody in this tournament.”
I've been looking forward to this for four years,” Troy senior midfielder Emily Cobb said. I'm glad to have the opportunity to be a college athlete for a little bit longer, and hopefully we'll play well and win.”
