Dixon Named To Preseason All-Sun Belt Team

TUSCALOOSA -- Senior guard Bobby Dixon has been named third-team Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference in a vote of the 11 head coaches, the league office announced today. The release of the team coincides with the annual media days being held Monday and Tuesday in Murfreesboro, Tenn., site of the 2006 Aerpostale Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Dixon led the Trojans in scoring last year with an average of 14.7 points per game, while also posting team-high numbers in assists (122) and steals (71). His 3.0 three-pointers per game (91 overall) ranked 20th in the nation and third in the Atlantic Sun.
A native of Chicago, Ill., Dixon averaged 3.9 rebounds per contest and posted an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.6. He shot 42.2 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from three-point range.
Dixon and the Trojans, newcomers to the Sun Belt, were picked sixth across the board in the West Division by the coaches following a 12-18 finish in the Atlantic Sun last year.
The season opens with an exhibition game Nov. 12 against Piedmont in Trojan Arena. The regular-season kicks off the following weekend at the Columbia Classic with the home opener Nov. 23 against Oakwood.
