1/24/2005 12:00:00 AM | Basketball (W)
Holman started the week with a 37-point outburst on 14-of-18 shooting from the field, including hitting four-of-five from three-point range. Holman also managed to hit five-of-seven free throws and grab six rebounds. During one stretch in the second half, Holman scored 27 of 30 points for Troy. The sophomore set career highs in FG percentage, three-point percentage, and field goals made in a game, while setting a career high in points. It is also the second highest point total in Troy history, since their move to Division I. On Saturday, Holman scored 14 points against Campbell, while grabbing five rebounds and swiping three steals.
For the week, Holman averaged 25.5 points and 5.5 rebounds on 54 percent shooting, while knocking down 46 percent of her three-point attempts. This marks the first time in her career that the reigning A-Sun Freshman-of-the-Year has won a player-of-the-week honor.
Holman is currently seventh in the A-Sun in both points per game, with 13.0 and three-point field goal percentage, currently hitting 36. 9 percent of her shots from behind the arc.
"This is a well-deserved honor for Laura Lee," said Troy head caoch Michael Murphy. "She's working hard, and she is really having a terrific second half to the season."
Troy (4-11, 3-5 A-Sun) returns to action on Thursday when they host Belmont for a 7:00 CT tip-off.
