Cross Country Ready For Atlantic Sun Championships

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University cross country teams will travel to Nashville, Tenn., to compete in the Atlantic Sun championships hosted by Belmont University.
The women's team will look to seniors Lindsey Waldrop and Belinda Bargmann to be strong contenders at the meet. Waldrop and Bargmann finished 12th and 13th respectively last Saturday at the Coach "O" Invitational hosted by Troy.
"Our women have a real opportunity to upset some teams. The key is going to be where our No. 3, 4, 5 finish," Director of cross country Bob Lambert said. "Lindsey and Belinda both have a chance to finish their collegiate careers with an individual victory at the conference championship."
The men will turn to sophomore Brandon Hughes, who has been the top-finisher for the Trojans all season.
"We are hoping for a strong individual performance by Brandon who has a chance of picking up an All-Conference selection with a good race," Lambert said. "The rest of the men should be ready to run their collective best race of the season."
The women's 5K race will begin on Saturday at 9:00 a.m., with the men's 8K to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tenn.
